Team & Role Summary:

The Global Business Development team at TikTok is responsible for a range of business activities that aim at driving growth and usage of our app as well as evaluating new opportunities and mitigating business risks. The Business Development and Licensing Strategy Manager will be responsible for developing strategic recommendations, analytical and valuation/investment frameworks in order to serve the company's growth, IP compliance, and diversification efforts. Specific tasks will include content valuation and engagement forecasting as well as interacting and negotiating with industry partners and driving long-term value. This is a strategic function and applicants should also be comfortable making presentations to senior leadership to inform critical business decisions.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare valuation analyses (model building, scenario testing) to support content deal decisions and negotiations

  • Determine valuation methodologies to properly value short-form content and identify trade-off options that can result in optimizing fee structures

  • Work closely with Operations, Product, key members of leadership, vendor management, software developers, and Legal teams on various projects related to securing partnerships and obtaining licenses for TikTok

  • Lead in the above areas across a large, geographically distributed organization through escalations and communicating to key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Data, and Legal) to develop insights on the different types of third-party video IP (i.e. Film excerpts, sports clips, etc.)


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, finance, and/or consulting role in a content company (film studio, content distribution company, TV company, streaming/tech company, etc.)

  • Excellent understanding of (non-music) content licensing elements, financial and non-financial

  • Strong ability to manage and analyze large data sets

  • Comfortable rationalizing and justifying decisions made and processes implemented, yet flexible with switching direction if conditions dictate

  • Excellent communicator, very analytical, detail-oriented and possesses the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships with a positive and can-do attitude

  • Being comfortable working in a very fast-paced environment and with multiple timezones

  • Familiarity with US and/or EU legal regimes and business customs

  • Chinese language skills are a plus
